Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
I am Maranda Hansley, MSN, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner providing medication management and supportive psychiatric care for adolescents and adults. I have experience treating a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma-related disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and other complex psychiatric conditions.
I believe effective psychiatric care begins with understanding you as a whole person rather than focusing only on symptoms or a diagnosis. My approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, affirming, and grounded in evidence-based care. I take time to understand your concerns, experiences, strengths, goals, preferences, and the factors affecting your daily life. This allows us to develop an individualized treatment plan that reflects what matters most to you.
Creating a safe space is an important part of my practice. I strive to provide affirming care where patients of all backgrounds and identities feel respected, valued, and comfortable being themselves. I recognize that personal experiences, culture, identity, relationships, and environment can influence mental health, as well as experiences within the healthcare system. My goal is for you to feel that your perspective is heard and that you are an active partner in your care.
I value shared decision-making and believe you should feel informed and involved in treatment decisions. I provide clear information about treatment options, including potential benefits, risks, alternatives, and expected outcomes. I welcome questions and encourage open communication throughout treatment.
Medication can be an important part of psychiatric care, but I believe treatment should consider more than medication alone. I consider factors such as sleep, physical health, relationships, stress, environment, coping skills, and daily functioning when evaluating symptoms and treatment response. When appropriate, I also incorporate supportive psychotherapy and principles from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
My goal is to build a therapeutic relationship centered on trust, respect, collaboration, and thoughtful care. Together, we can work toward greater stability, improved day-to-day functioning, and meaningful progress toward your personal goals.
