Psychiatric Care for Wilmington and the Cape Fear Region
We provide psychiatric medication management, evaluations, GeneSight testing, and ESA letters for adults in the Wilmington area. Wilmington is one of the fastest-growing cities in North Carolina, and that growth brings opportunity -- but also real pressure. We are here to help when that pressure starts affecting your daily life.
Who We Help in Wilmington
Wilmington's economy is more diverse than people realize. Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center is the area's largest employer, with thousands of healthcare workers keeping the region's only trauma center running. UNCW employs faculty and staff across its growing campus. New Hanover County Schools has thousands of teachers and support staff shaping the next generation.
Beyond the big institutions, Wilmington has a strong tech and finance sector. nCino and Live Oak Bank have built national reputations from right here in the Port City. GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy and Corning employ engineers and skilled workers. PPD -- now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific -- runs clinical research operations that employ hundreds. And the film industry at EUE Screen Gems Studios brings seasonal production crews who deal with the unique stress of contract work and irregular schedules.
We also work with service industry workers supporting Wilmington's tourism economy, retirees adjusting to a new stage of life, and military families connected to Camp Lejeune about an hour north. If you live in the Cape Fear region and need psychiatric care, we can help.
Our Approach to Medication Management
Your first appointment is a thorough psychiatric evaluation -- about 45-60 minutes. We review your symptoms, your history, your past experience with medications, and anything else that helps us understand the full picture. From there, we create a medication plan designed for your specific needs.
If previous medications have not worked or caused difficult side effects, GeneSight testing can help. It is a simple cheek swab that reveals how your body metabolizes different psychiatric medications. The results guide us toward better choices with fewer side effects.
We also provide Emotional Support Animal evaluations for patients whose anxiety or depression significantly impacts their ability to function day to day.
For Wilmington Students
UNCW students juggle academics, part-time jobs, and the social pressures that come with college. Cape Fear Community College students are often balancing classes with full-time work or family obligations. Whether it is ADHD making it hard to focus, anxiety keeping you up at night, or depression pulling you away from the things that matter, we can help. We work with students to find the right medication quickly so your semester stays on track.
For Working Professionals
Wilmington attracts ambitious people -- tech workers at nCino and Live Oak Bank, clinicians at Novant Health, engineers at GE Hitachi, researchers at PPD. The demands of high-performance careers can mask anxiety, burnout, and mood issues until they become a real problem. We help professionals across the Cape Fear region manage their mental health so they can keep doing the work they care about.
Insurance and Payment
We accept Blue Cross NC, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, and MedCost. We accept NC Medicaid plans including Healthy Blue, WellCare, and AmeriHealth Caritas. Cash pay is available for patients without insurance coverage.
