What is Medication Management?
Medication management is making sure the medication you are taking is still working the way it should. That means regular check-ins with your provider, adjustments when something is off, and refills that do not take a week of phone calls to sort out.
A lot of people get put on a medication and then nobody checks back in. Or they are seeing a provider who is so overloaded that appointments are five minutes long and nothing really gets addressed. In Eastern NC, where mental health providers are hard to come by, that happens more than it should.
How It Works
Follow-up visits are 15-30 minutes. We check on how you are feeling, whether the medication is doing its job, and if there are side effects we need to deal with. If something is not working, we change it -- new dose, new medication, or a different combination.
Most patients come in every 1-3 months once things are stable. If you take a controlled substance like Adderall or Vyvanse, monthly visits are required.
What We Prescribe
We handle the full range: SSRIs like Zoloft and Lexapro for depression and anxiety. Stimulants like Adderall and Vyvanse for ADHD. Mood stabilizers like Lamictal. Buspirone and hydroxyzine for anxiety. SNRIs like Effexor and Cymbalta. Whatever your situation calls for.
Insurance and Payment
Follow-up visits are covered by most insurance. We accept Blue Cross NC, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and NC Medicaid. Cash pay is available.
When to Make a Change
If you cannot reach your provider when you need to. If your appointments feel rushed. If refills are a constant headache. If you have been on the same medication for years and nobody has asked whether it still makes sense. You deserve better than that, and we keep things straightforward.
