What Is Medication Management?
Medication management is the ongoing process of monitoring and adjusting your psychiatric medications to make sure they are working the way they should. It is the regular follow-up care that happens after your initial evaluation -- the visits where we check in, track your progress, and make changes when needed.
This is the heart of what a psychiatric practice does. We prescribe and manage medications for ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, PMDD, insomnia, and other conditions.
How It Works
After your initial psychiatric evaluation, we schedule follow-up visits to monitor your treatment. Early on, we may see you every 2-4 weeks as we find the right medication and dosage. Once things are stable, visits typically move to every 1-3 months.
At each visit, we ask about your symptoms, side effects, sleep, mood, and how your daily life is going. We adjust as needed. If something is not working, we change course. If it is working, we keep building on what is helping.
Medications We Prescribe
We prescribe a full range of psychiatric medications tailored to your diagnosis. For ADHD -- Adderall, Vyvanse, Concerta, Ritalin, Strattera, Wellbutrin, Qelbree. For depression and anxiety -- Zoloft, Lexapro, Prozac, Effexor, Cymbalta, buspirone, hydroxyzine. For bipolar disorder -- Lamictal, lithium. For sleep and PTSD -- prazosin, hydroxyzine, trazodone.
When standard approaches are not getting results, we use GeneSight testing to guide medication choices based on your genetics.
What to Expect
Follow-up visits are typically 15-30 minutes. Come ready to talk honestly about how things have been going -- what is better, what is worse, any side effects, any life changes. The more we know, the better we can help.
Insurance and Payment
Medication management visits are covered by most insurance plans. We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and AHCCCS. Cash pay is available.
