What Is Medication Management?

Medication management is the ongoing clinical process of monitoring, adjusting, and optimizing psychiatric medications after the initial evaluation and prescription. An accurate diagnosis and appropriate initial medication are necessary but not sufficient. Treatment response must be tracked, side effects addressed, and doses titrated to achieve the best possible outcome.

What We Manage

We manage pharmacotherapy for ADHD (Adderall, Vyvanse, Concerta, Strattera, Wellbutrin, Qelbree, guanfacine), depression (Zoloft, Lexapro, Prozac, Wellbutrin, Effexor, Cymbalta), anxiety (SSRIs, buspirone, hydroxyzine), PTSD (prazosin, SSRIs), bipolar disorder (Lamictal, lithium), insomnia (trazodone, hydroxyzine), and other psychiatric conditions. For patients on multiple medications, we evaluate the full regimen -- drug interactions, timing, cumulative side effects, and overall coherence of the treatment plan.

Follow-Up Structure

Follow-up visits are typically 15-30 minutes. We assess treatment response, review side effects, and make dosage or medication adjustments as clinically indicated. During the initial stabilization phase, follow-ups occur every 2-4 weeks. Once a patient is stable and responding well, visits transition to every 1-3 months. We remain accessible between appointments for time-sensitive clinical questions.

Insurance and Payment

Medication management appointments are covered by most insurance plans. We accept Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Health First Colorado (Medicaid). Cash pay is available for patients without in-network coverage.

Transferring Providers

If your current psychiatric provider has extended wait times, limited availability, or has not revisited your medication plan despite ongoing symptoms -- transferring care is a reasonable step. We accept new patients transitioning from other providers and typically schedule within one week. Bring your current medication list and any available records. We will conduct our own assessment and take it from there.
