What Is Medication Management?
Medication management is the ongoing process of monitoring and adjusting psychiatric medications. It is not one prescription and done. It is regular check-ins with a provider who tracks your response, manages side effects, and changes course when needed.
How We Manage Medications
After your initial evaluation, follow-ups run 15-20 minutes. We check mood, energy, sleep, focus, side effects, and daily functioning. If something is not working, we adjust.
We prescribe the full range -- SSRIs like Zoloft and Lexapro for depression and anxiety. Stimulants like Adderall and Vyvanse for ADHD. Mood stabilizers like Lamictal and lithium for bipolar. Buspirone and hydroxyzine for anxiety. Prazosin and trazodone for sleep and PTSD.
What to Expect
Follow-ups every 4-8 weeks. More frequent for new medications or dose changes. Stable patients can stretch the interval.
Insurance and Payment
We accept Blue Cross of Idaho, Regence, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Idaho Medicaid. Cash pay is available.
When You Need Medication Management
If your provider writes prescriptions without following up, that is not good enough. If your medication stopped working or side effects are dragging you down, come in. Good medication management means someone is paying attention.
