What is ADHD?
ADHD affects how your brain manages attention, impulse control, and executive function. It is not about being lazy or unfocused -- it is a neurological condition that about 10% of children and 4-5% of adults live with. Across the Charlotte metro and surrounding area, undiagnosed ADHD can derail careers, relationships, and self-confidence.
Many adults first realize they have ADHD when work demands outpace their ability to compensate. The strategies that got you through school -- last-minute cramming, adrenaline-fueled deadlines -- stop working when you are managing a team, a household, or both.
How We Treat ADHD
We conduct thorough evaluations -- not a quick online quiz. Your provider will spend time understanding your symptoms, history, and how ADHD is affecting your daily life. For children, we involve parents and can coordinate with schools to build a complete picture.
Medication is the most effective treatment for most ADHD patients. We prescribe stimulants (Adderall, Vyvanse, Concerta, Ritalin) and non-stimulants (Strattera, Wellbutrin, Qelbree, guanfacine) based on your specific needs, medical history, and tolerance. If previous medications have not worked, GeneSight testing can help us find a better match.
What to Expect
Your first visit is about 60 minutes. We will talk about your symptoms, review screening tools, and discuss treatment options. If ADHD is confirmed, many patients begin medication the same day. Follow-up visits are typically monthly to track progress and make adjustments.
Insurance and Payment
We accept Blue Cross NC, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and NC Medicaid (Healthy Blue, WellCare, AmeriHealth Caritas). Cash pay is available for uninsured patients.
When to Get Evaluated
If you constantly lose track of tasks, miss deadlines despite trying hard, zone out in meetings, feel overwhelmed by basic organization, or have been told you are 'not reaching your potential' -- those are patterns worth investigating. ADHD does not resolve on its own, but the right treatment can change your daily life significantly.
