What is an ESA Letter?
An Emotional Support Animal letter documents that your animal provides therapeutic benefit for a diagnosed mental health condition. Under the Fair Housing Act, landlords must make reasonable accommodations for ESAs with proper documentation -- including military housing and off-base rentals.
Our Process
We conduct a genuine psychiatric evaluation before issuing any ESA documentation. We assess whether you have a qualifying diagnosis and whether an ESA is clinically appropriate. We do not issue letters without a real evaluation -- that protects you and ensures your documentation holds up.
What to Expect
New patient evaluations take 45-60 minutes. If you already have an established diagnosis, the process is straightforward. Your letter is typically available within a few business days of your appointment.
Insurance and Payment
The evaluation portion may be covered by insurance or TRICARE. The ESA letter itself has a separate fee. We explain all costs upfront.
Important for Military Families
If you are renting off-base and your landlord does not allow pets, a legitimate ESA letter can help. Our letters are from North Carolina-licensed providers and meet federal requirements. We are familiar with the specific housing situations military families face during PCS moves.
